Jesus' Mercies to Gentiles (UE33)

  'Understanding Endtime'

Mat 15:24-28 But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" But He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs." And she said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
Since Lord Jesus was sent specifically to the Israelites to save them, was He wrong healing the Gentile's daughter?

Mercy Demanded by God
Num 7:89 Now when Moses went into the tabernacle of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice of One speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony, from between the two cherubim; thus He spoke to him.
God sat on the mercy seat in the temple of God, a sign that mercy is His very important attribute. Without justice, mercy and faith our Lord condemned the Jews as hypocrites.
Matthew 23:23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone."

Mercy to those who Fear Him
Psalm 103:11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
God's mercy will be given to all those who fear Him (including respect, honour, faith, adoration and submission). Without mercy, all our sacrifices, services and worships are wasted.
Hos 6:6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Mercies to Gentiles in OT
Jos 2:8-9 Now before they lay down, she (Rahab) came up to them on the roof, and said to the men: "I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you."
When the Israeli spies entered Canaan, Rahab out of her fear of the Lord, protected the Israelites and help them to escape. Rahab received God's mercy and was the ancestor of King David and our Lord Jesus.
Note it was God's instruction to kill all Canaanites and yet Rahab and family were saved.

Ruth 4:13 So Boaz took Ruth (Moabite) and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son (Obed).
Ruth a Moabite, followed Noami back to Israel, and God blessed her for her faith in Him.

Salvation of Gentiles
Mat 8:10-12 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
The Centurion, who expressed his faith in Jesus was granted his request. Here, our Lord prophesied the end of Judaism with Jews cast into outer darkness, and the salvation of Gentiles seated with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
Hos 2:23 "Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, 'You are My people!' And they shall say, 'You are my God!'"
