Jesus Fulfilled the Prophets (UE78)

  'Understanding Endtime'

The Law and the Prophets

Our Lord Submitted to God's Will
Luke 3:21-22  When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened.
Our Lord Jesus knew that it was God's will to send John the Baptist to preach repentance and the Kingdom gospel to bring the Jews back to God so that the repented Jews could be saved by believing Jesus as the Messiah. So our Lord submitted to God's will by accepting the baptism of John.

Our Lord Performed God's Will
John 3:24, 26  For John had not yet been thrown into prison... And they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified—behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!"
Not only did our Lord submit to God's will by He also performed God's will by preaching John's Kingdom gospel. He also sent His disciples to preach the Kingdom gospel for He knew that the Jews will be lost forever after the Old Covenant was made obsolete by His death on the cross.
Luke 12:47  And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

Jesus continued John's Work
Mark 1:14-15  Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."
The Jews expected their Messiah to come soon - to deliver them from the oppressive Roman rule and then establish His Kingdom on earth.
'Repent and the Kingdom Gospel' was the endtime message to the Jews before the end of Judaism.
Note - It is always End time messages that will bring believers back to Him and His words.

A Prophet Like Moses
Acts 3:22-23  For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.'
Because of our Lord's humility and obedience, He was given extra grace and were able to perform all types or signs and wonders just like Moses. All those who reject Him will stay unsaved.
Jam 4:6  But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Law and Prophets Abolished
Our Lord gave the Mosiac Law to the Israelites (Judaism), who could not keep them. So out of His great love He came in the flesh to fulfill both the Law and the Prophets (without sin) in order to abolish them. Out of His grace He save all men with the New Covenant of His blood.

Fulfillment of Kingdom of God
Luke 17:20-21  Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you."
Our Lord told them that it would not be a physical Kingdom. So after His resurrection, He gave His disciples the Holy Spirit thereby making each physical body His temple.
If we keep His commandments as His royal decree, then He is our King and the Kingdom of God is established within us
John 20:21-22  So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit."
